Top 5 Reasons Why I’m Excited For BASIC Live

If you haven’t heard the news yet, BASIC Live is happening this weekend! This is the third year of the only free online college ministry leadership training event, and I’m extremely excited to be a part of this year’s event for a few different reasons. If you haven’t registered to attend this event yet, let me share with you a few different reasons why you may want to reconsider.

1. Top-Notch Leadership Training!
For the last two years, I’ve walked away from BASIC Live feeling liked a champion. I’ve learned things about college ministry, I’ve been challenged on ways to think about college ministry, I’ve been fed ideas about how to be an effective leader on campus, I’ve been inspired to pursue a deeper relationship with God, I’ve been pushed to share my faith with college students in new ways, and so much more.

Each year, the team brings in amazing ministry leaders who not only talk the talk, they walk the walk. This year, I’m especially excited to hear teachings from Tim Matthews (who I watched preach an amazing message at a #BASICcon), and Stephen Lutz (I’ve read one of his college ministry books, and it changed the way I thought about my role as a college pastor in my students’ lives).

2. It’s On Your Computer!
Because this is an online event that you can watch right from your computer, you have the option to literally sit in your PJ’s and be a part of something awesome, if you’re not watching with your team of course. Either way, I do encourage you to dress like you would in public, it’ll make you feel better about yourself.

3. It’s a Shared Experience!
When you watch BASIC Live, you’ll be part of a network of tons of other people watching the same thing along with you across the entire United States (maybe even, the world)! Also, new this year to the BASIC Live experience are “Hot Spot” locations across New York State. This year, you can join other college ministry leaders in Rochester, Syracuse, Albany, Long Island, and Oneonta for an in-person BASIC Live experience including games, freebies, food, conversation, live teaching, and more.

4. You Don’t Have to Plan Anything!
As a college ministry leader, you’ve likely spent the entire semester up until this point grooming your student leadership team with lots of hard work and carefully thought out leadership teachings. One of the greatest parts of BASIC Live, is that you don’t have to put much work into making it happen for your team. Just find a place that your group can get together to watch a projection of the broadcast, and you’re done!

5. It’s Totally Free!
You can’t beat that.

BASIC Live is happening this Saturday, April 25, at 1pm-4pm. For more information on how to register, speakers, hot spot locations, and more, visit thebasicsite.org/basiclive
