Can you believe we’re already approaching the middle of the Spring semester? If you’re anything like me, you’re just finally feeling like you’ve got a good groovy rhythm going for your weekly meetings and bible studies. While this is certainly an awesome feeling, it brings along a tricky temptation that can drastically inhibit your progress bringing the kingdom of heaven to your campus. Here’s one thing you should not do as a campus minister at this time in the semester…
Don’t get comfortable!
On my campus, it feels like things have taken shape and we’ve gotten into a good groove for the Spring 2015 semester. My student leadership team is rocking out, taking jobs, telling friends about Jesus, and taking charge of most of the responsibilities of running our ministry at SUNY Oneonta. God is bringing new people to our weekly large group gatherings and small group bible studies, and we’re having tons of fun together. However, if my team gave into any urge to go into autopilot mode and float on our current success for the rest of the semester, I believe we’d be missing out on some awesome sauce that God has for us.
Friends, now is the time to press in, reach out, catch vision, and do some work! Don’t settle and give in to the temptation of going into autopilot mode because things are going well so far on campus. The reward is too great to dismiss! Be encouraged, and believe this for the remainder of your semester:
But as it is written, What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him” -1 Corinthians 2:9
