Kicking Things Off

chris

Welcome to the new blog for student leaders and BASIC advisors! We’re so excited about launching this as a way to give you more ideas, resources, and tips, so that you can better reach your campus for the Lord! We’ve noticed that there aren’t many resources available for those in college ministry, so we thought this would be a great way to equip you as much as possible.

Cheryl and I (Chris) attended BASIC at SUNY Oswego for all 4 years of college and a couple years after graduating God called us to work with BASIC full-time. This past year Cheryl and I have been blessed to be a part of starting groups at Geneseo, Monroe Community College, and we’re currently working to start a group at the University of Rochester. We have also really enjoyed traveling and visiting almost all of the 30 BASIC groups across New York. As we’ve done these things we’ve been able to pick up many ideas and resources both from our own experiences and from things we’ve learned as we’ve visited the other groups.

I’m going to try and update this at least once a week to make sure we’re giving you tons of fresh ideas. Each post will be broken into categories that will be labeled for Advisors, Student Leaders, and for both Advisors & Student Leaders based on who the post would apply to more. Also, each post will have tags associated with it such as: raising funds, events, advertising, etc. so that you can find a post by looking up certain tags.

Make sure to check back next week and every week after that to get updates. Feel free to leave a comment if there are any topics in particular that you would like to see covered. This should be a great way for us to share ideas with each other and the other groups across the BASIC network as well. I don’t want to be the only one doing the talking. We want this to be as helpful as possible to you and your group!

Romans 15:5-6 (NIV) “May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
