Last week I wrote about ideas for Connecting the Campus and the Church. I visited the BASIC group at the University of Buffalo this week and they had a great idea for further connecting the campus and the church.
Their church is going through a series based on the book Radical by David Platt. The church is also doing small groups to go along with the series and tie everything together. So, the BASIC group at UB decided to do a small group about Radical as well. This is a great way to encourage students to come to church, listen to the sermons, and then further discuss what they’re learning in a small group setting.
You could even take this a step further if your church plans out their sermon series’ ahead of time and correlate your speaking for the semester with the series that the church is covering (if you don’t think it will be overkill and it applies to students). By implementing either of these ideas it not only encourages your students to come to church, but can also give them opportunities to have conversations with other people in the church using the sermons as a jumping off point.
Do you have any other ideas that I’ve missed for connecting the campus and the church? Please share in the comments below.
