O come, O come, Emmanuel
And ransom captive Israel
That mourns in lonely exile here
Until the Son of God appear
[Refrain]
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to thee, O Israel
This Christmas season I want to invite you into preparing your heart as much as you have prepared for the actual day of Christmas. I believe that the Christmas season is a great invitation to welcome God’s presence into our everyday. And it starts with the words ‘O Come.’ God wants us to be reminded that he is with us. That Immanuel is not just a one day a year experience. That is spiritual selfishness. But that Immanuel, “God with us” is actual for our everyday. Let today be the day that you pray “O Come.” And that this season you would see God move in ways he has never before. That you would become obsessed with the nature of him. That you would want to study the crevices of all that he is. That this season would be the one where you encounter and experience him like never before. That you wouldn’t just crave the gifts of what he brings, but that you would only crave who he is. That he would be enough. That him being with you is enough.
“All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: 23 “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” Matthew 1:22-23
