I recently came across a brief but helpful resource for explaining discipleship. I wanted to pass it along as I think the most important thing we can do in our ministries is to make disciples, not simply increase our numbers.
Sometimes it’s hard to know how best to disciple and how to measure if those we are pouring into are actually becoming disciples. You can find the Principles of Discipleship outline here under the Movement Building section as well as a number of other useful resources.
There was also a good post on the Heart of Campus Ministry blog regarding the costs of discipling college students that you may find helpful as well.
Remember what Jesus said when He gave the Great Commission:
Matthew 28:18-20 (NIV) “Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’”
