Hopefully as you’ve been planning for the upcoming semester there is an anticipation building in your heart for what God is going to do in your students’ lives. While growth is not the only sign that your group is seeing success, it is one of the easiest ways to tell that you’re doing something right and it brings new life to the group regularly. But is your group prepared to handle growth?
One thing I’ve learned is that a ministry won’t experience sustained growth unless it is prepared to handle the increase. God wants us to have order in all that we do. This is evident from reading about the construction of the temple and practices for the priests to follow in the Old Testament and 1 Corinthians 14:40 says, “But all things must be done properly and in an orderly manner.” Is your ministry set up in an orderly manner so that God can bless it?
Do you strive for excellence in your weekly meetings? Do you have a good system in place for discipleship to make sure students are growing in their relationship with God? I wrote a post a couple months back that had some good resources for discipleship and next week I’ll be posting a summary of a Q&A session from Propel about how to run excellent meetings. As you prepare for the fall and come to God with expectation for increase you should be asking questions like these to make sure that your group is ready to handle growth.
