Let me start off by saying, I know you’ve probably got a lot on your plate right now so this post is going to be short and sweet. In fact, it’s going to address that very problem. Steve Jobs once said, “Deciding what not to do is as important as deciding what to do. That’s true for companies and it’s true for products.”
Jobs was famous for keeping his product lines simple and as limited as possible. While competing companies were trying to constantly release more models with different features, he believed that keeping it straight forward and easy to understand was the best thing for consumers.
At the beginning of the semester you’re looking to make a big splash and you should be, but if you get so overwhelmed that it hurts what you’re trying to accomplish then you might want to consider simplifying things. So, my question for you this week is,
What ‘products’ in your ministry could be trimmed?
Think through all the things that you have planned and decide what’s most important and makes the biggest impact and put your time and energy into making those things as good as possible.
This concept can be applied others ways as well. Maybe with all the craziness you need to apply it to your lifestyle. What things that you’re doing on a day-to-day basis could be cut out to make room for what’s most important? This is a question I try to regularly ask myself to make sure I’m focusing on what’s most important.
We want to be good stewards of our time and make the biggest impact we can for the sake of the Kingdom! I pray that you accomplish that this semester on your campus.
