I don’t know about you, but I’ve grown to love listening to podcasts. It’s such an excellently convenient way to gain new perspective, learn something new, and stay awake on those long late-night car rides. While there are tons of amazing podcasts about every topic imagineable, here are 6 podcasts that every college ministry leader should check out.
Resurgence Leadership. This podcast is fairly new and has quickly become a favorite of mine. The Resurgence is a ministry of Pastor Mark Driscoll and Mars Hill Church in Seattle geared toward eqiupping ministry leaders for God’s work in any arena. The episodes feature many speakers including Pastor Mark, Tim Keller, Judah Smith, Matt Chandler, and more.
The Andy Stanley Leadership Podcast. Ok, this guy is a genius. Andy Stanley oversees North Point ministries in Georgia, and has a lot of wisdom to share with any ministry leader willing to listen. His podcast episodes run at about the perfect length of 20 minutes, and feature topics such as organizational structure, team leadership, and vision casting.
Jesus Culture Leadership Podcast. This podcast has felt like a lifesaver for me in the past. Banning Liebscher and his team (frequently including Kim Walker-Smith from the band) are not afraid to spill their guts and get vulnerable for the sake of offering sound biblical advise to apply in any ministry leadership position. This podcast also spotlights books, blogs, music, and guest interviews every month to encourage ministry leaders.
5 Minutes in Church History. Who doesn’t have 5 minutes to spare? This podcast, hosted by theologian Dr. Stephen Nichols offers quick snapshots of pivitol moments in Church history, and some key takeaway points that we can learn from each instance. These episodes are really entertaining and educational, and can offer some great fuel for your knowledge base, sermon points, and can make you sound super legit in conversations with your pastor.
Perry Noble Leadership Podcast. Leader of New Spring Church in South Carolina, Perry Noble is a dynamic guy; full of knowledge to share, and easy to listen to. He offers advise like how to handle being overwhelmed in ministry, how to lead creative people, advise for brand new leaders, and much more. Perry Noble is an excellent communicator, and is fun to listen to.
College Ministry Leadership. Though this podcast is not currently being actively operated, the topics covered are extremely helpful for college ministry student leaders and church workers. Chad Logan and his guests cover a wide range of material such as how to reach the greeks on your campus, how to reach international students, how to connect your students to your church, and much more. Our very own former director, Todd Cavanaugh, was also featured on one of the posts!
Listening to podcasts is a great way to get refreshed and refocused on our mission to the college campuses. I hope that these favorites of mine serve as a good place to start on your podcasting adventures. Which podcasts would you recommend fellow college ministry leaders listen to?
